What a start to the year… 3 comps with favourable conditions for all divisions.

Sunday, 5th of May saw FTBA crew rock up to good waves and good vibes for their third monthly comp.
April’s comp had to be postponed the weekend before due to zero swell, so to be blessed with conditions that were welcoming, but challenging for the A division riders and yet solid enough for the Opens riders to let loose, made everybody happy.
Thank you to Simon and Cheersy for stepping in and running Round 3 and to all that put in and made comp run smoothly a HUGE thank you. Congrats to all our 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place winners and all our competitors for participating. Remember next round holds infinite possibilities and possible spots for Teams Challenge.
Special thanks needs to be given to the lads who were at the judging tables all day, consistent and fair Judging has been the call from most riders and to Scotty Fantini that shot through out the day. https://www.facebook.com/ScottyFantiniPhotography?hc_location=timeline
“Once again judges were very impressed with the development of all riders within all divisions”
The AA’s were the first to hit the water, with strong riding in all heats making this a hotly contested division. Matty McKinnon consistency on wave selection and clean combo riding eventually took him to the final and just getting home over the set king Sam Collins, and the combo magnets Josh Griffin, Zac Williams with clean rolls and reverse spins.
It was great to see the A division riders getting into some of the more solid waves in conditions that tested their abilities. 8 year old Billy Kennedy got himself psyched up to enter the third heat and scored himself some of his biggest waves to date, having his dad swimming in the water with him would have surely kept him pumped. Kurt Bennet improving and picking clean waves to be hot on the heals of A’s winner Logan Morgan who dominated all 3 heats though out the day.
Opens division was taken out by Tom Ditchfield who laid down some pretty incredible rides with very clean barrel riding, tight pocket spins, rolls and combination waves seeing him bring it home ahead of Liam Brady, Sam Elbourne and Adam Cheers.
Drop Knee division was taken out by newly crowned State Champion Adam Cheers, with some late waves giving him the win over Mitch Baker.
Mitchell Watson from A division scored himself wave of the day picking off a clean set wave into a barrel/roll combo. Mitchell has been booging for less than a year and his skills are developing nicely.
It was the type of day that you wish you had at every comp, flawless sunny Autumn weather, offshore winds, great riding and most importantly good waves.
Thanks to all Sponsors who without their support days like this would not be possible.
Prizes for Round 3 comp proudly provided Sporties Tuncurry, Hogs Breath, Jungle Surf, Bukos Bistro, Colleens Bakery, No Bull Butchers, Corecom & Donut King Forster for the rad prizes today.
