“New girls go surfing” – Great Lakes Advocate

Great Lakes Advocate – 1st Expression Session

Advocate Article - Wednesday November 30th, 2011Forster Tuncurry Bodyboard Association recently held their first expression session in preparation for the 2012 return of the club.

On November 13, 25 local riders from 11 years of age, to those more experienced, took to the waves of Tuncurry Beach before a barbecue breakfast meet and greet.

“We only had one week of publicity, mainly through Facebook, so it was great to see people of different ages attend,” vice president Adam Scard said.

The club has begun fundraising for 2012 having held two Bunnings barbecues and a raffle, the first raising over $800 for the association. Adam Scard is also happy with the backing of sponsors Jungle Surf and Tuncurry Sporties….

Great Lakes Advocate – Backflip Into First Place

Near perfect conditions greeted the 30 competitors in the first of Forster Tuncurry Bodyboard Association’s Xsight Series Bodyboarding competition held in a sunny, clean 3 to 4 feet waves at Tuncurry Beach on Sunday, February 18th.

Some excellent surfing went down in the early rounds with Nick Wagner’s clean surfing and Drew Cockeram’s front flip being just some of the highlights of the morning.

By finals time the tide had dropped and some reasonably heavy waves were breaking on the shallow inside bank. The younger guys were ripping in the A division with Nic Clark scoring a clean little barrel, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Beau Schumann scoring high on his second last wave.
