Thursday 19th April, Doddzy took a busload of cadets and juniors to Port Macquarie Festival of Bodyboarding. Boys will be boys – the trip down was short because they were a bag of laughs and sharing the moon to the world. The boys were star struck when we arrived – PLC, Hubb and Stone were all just standing around watching the girls compete.
We got to see the last few heats of girls and then it was time for the Mens GQS Round 3 and 4.
First heat saw Jones Russell on fire in red. Our boy Jesse Galloway was in heat 24. Jesse started the wave count for the heat with a big clean roll. Alberto Colucci and Ewan Donnachie backed it and ran away with the set waves and massive air time. Jesse tried his hardest with a few clean barrels and flip outs but couldn’t get the 5.6 needed to move up into 2nd.
When the storm hit we jumped in the bus and went over to one of our sponsors, Turbo Factory, who were giving a demonstration on how boards were made by Matt Lenton and Glenn Taylor. Our boys loved it, they had some really good questions and learned heaps. We really appreciate the time given to our boys from Turbo.
The boys are frothing for DK tomorrow. We have Thomas TdsHc Donnelly, Keegan Cronin and Adam Cheers trying to bring the title back home.
